What is the Strandrups?
The Strandrups is an accessible beach vehicle operated by Stichting Outdoor4Disabled. It is designed to take people who cannot easily walk or roll over loose sand right onto the beach. A typical trip lasts around one hour and follows the Noordwijk coastline close to the tide line, with time to enjoy the sea, beach and surroundings.
Who is the Strandrups for?
The experience was created for people with a physical disability or reduced mobility, but companions can join too. It is suitable for individual visitors as well as small groups.
Stay together on the beach
Current regional visitor information states that the vehicle can carry up to four wheelchairs at the same time. Wheelchairs are secured on the platform during the ride.
Up to nine people
When guests can transfer to the vehicle seats, the Strandrups can carry up to nine people. A combination of wheelchair spaces and seats is also possible.
No need to drive yourself
This is a hosted beach ride rather than a rental vehicle. It is a good choice when you want to experience the beach together as a family or group.
Where does the Strandrups depart?
The Strandrups is based at Langevelderslag 44–46, 2204 AH Noordwijk, close to beach access 27. This is the same compact beach area where you will find the main parking area, Nederzandt, Buhay Beach and other food and drink options.
Keukenhof to the Strandrups
For visitors with a car or private transfer, Langevelderslag is one of the easiest North Sea beaches to combine with Keukenhof. Driving from the Keukenhof area usually takes around 20 minutes, depending on traffic.
Because the Strandrups works with reserved departure times, plan enough travel time and arrive before your booked ride.
Route from Keukenhof →Strandrups prices
Current Noordwijk visitor information lists the following prices:
| Booking type | Current price |
|---|---|
| Individual guest | €13.50 per person |
| Private group | €105.00 for a group of up to 9 people |
Prices and schedules can change. Check the official Strandrups website for the latest availability, departure times and price before you travel.
When does the Strandrups operate at Langevelderslag?
The Strandrups currently operates on the Noordwijk beach at Langevelderslag from approximately mid-April through the end of October. This means it normally overlaps with the second half of the Keukenhof season, but not with the first weeks after Keukenhof opens in March.
Outside this period the organisation may offer other experiences, including winter beach rides in Katwijk and, when the flower bulbs are in bloom, rides through the bulb-growing region. These activities use their own schedules, so check the official booking information for your travel date.
What happens during the ride?
Parking for the Strandrups
Use the large paid parking area at Langevelderslag. It is next to the beach entrance area and has space for approximately 700 cars. Accessible parking spaces are available in the Langevelderslag area for visitors with a valid disabled parking permit.
The current Langevelderslag day-parking tariff is €10 from 1 April through 30 September and €5 from 1 October through 31 March. Always check the signs and parking machine when you arrive.
Strandrups, Rolrups or WaterWheels?
These names can be confusing, because Langevelderslag has several different accessibility options. The photos below show the difference at a glance.

Strandrups
A specially designed vehicle with a driver and room for wheelchair users and companions. Best when you want a guided beach experience together.

Rolrups
An electric all-terrain beach wheelchair available at Buhay Beach. It helps visitors move across soft sand more independently and is a different product from the Strandrups.

WaterWheels
A floating beach wheelchair available at Nederzandt, designed to help visitors reach the shoreline and enjoy the water with suitable assistance and safe conditions.
Which option should you choose? Choose the Strandrups for a hosted beach ride with family or companions, the Rolrups for individual mobility on the sand, and WaterWheels when beach and water access is the priority. Availability can depend on weather, season and advance reservation.

Where can you eat before or after the ride?
You do not need to leave Langevelderslag for lunch, coffee or dinner. The beach entrance has several places to eat, including Nederzandt, Buhay Beach, Hoogies and Bella Bella.
For a longer visit, you can combine the Strandrups with lunch, a drink on a terrace or a short walk through the dunes. Families can also visit the nearby Speelzandt nature playground.

How to book the Strandrups
Booking in advance is strongly recommended. Availability is limited because each ride has a small capacity and departure times are scheduled.

Send an email →Visiting during Keukenhof 2027
Keukenhof is open from 18 March through 9 May 2027. The Strandrups season at Langevelderslag currently starts around mid-April, so this combination is most relevant for visitors coming in the second half of April or early May.
For March and early-April visits, do not assume that a Langevelderslag beach ride is operating. Check the official Strandrups calendar first and only then build the beach stop into your day.
