Is Keukenhof a tulip festival?
Visitors often describe Keukenhof as a tulip festival because millions of spring flowers are displayed during a limited season. In practice, Keukenhof is a large spring flower exhibition and garden that remains open for almost eight weeks.
This matters when planning: there is no single festival day that you must attend. Different flowers and tulip varieties take their turn throughout the season.
When is the Keukenhof Tulip Festival in 2027?
Keukenhof is open from 18 March through 9 May 2027. The park is open daily during this period.
The exact peak of individual tulip varieties cannot be guaranteed far in advance because flowering depends on spring temperatures and weather.
What flowers can you expect?
Tulips are the main reason many people visit, but the spring programme is broader. Narcissi, hyacinths, crocuses, muscari and other bulb flowers help create colour through different parts of the season.
Indoor flower shows add further displays throughout the opening weeks.
Is April the best month?
April is traditionally a popular month because many tulip varieties are flowering and the surrounding bulb region often has strong colour. However, exact conditions vary every year, and Keukenhof is designed to have something flowering from opening day until the end of the season.
How long should you spend at the flower festival?
Allow around three hours for a typical visit. If you are interested in photography, the pavilions, the windmill or a Whisper Boat trip, four hours or more can be worthwhile.
Can you combine Keukenhof with the surrounding tulip fields?
Yes. The garden and the Bollenstreek complement each other well: Keukenhof offers designed flower displays and facilities, while the surrounding countryside shows the commercial bulb-growing landscape.
